What the rate includes. Every rate above is all in. It is the employee’s salary and statutory benefits, passed through at cost and itemized on your invoice, plus our flat $395 management fee. The fee covers legal employment and an HR team on the ground, recruitment, an i5 computer with dual monitors and headset, 24/7 IT support and a secure managed network, security certifications and insurance, training and quality, client success management and the Knit workforce platform. There are no setup, recruitment, workstation, exit or team transfer fees. Where the work suits it, output-based pricing is also available, built on the same transparent framework with the unit price calculation shown.
For comparison, a senior software developer hired in the US runs $110,000 to $145,000 a year in base salary before benefits.

Frequently asked questions
-
How much does software development outsourcing cost?
Sourcefit’s software development rates are $1,330 a month for entry level, $2,033 for mid level and $3,840 for senior developers, per full-time employee working from home. Office-based staff add $100 a month. Each rate is all in: salary and benefits at cost plus the $395 management fee. There are no setup, recruitment or exit fees. Where the work suits it, output-based pricing is also available, built on the same transparent framework: we show how the unit price is calculated, so you know exactly what you are paying for.
-
Is the management fee added on top of these rates?
No. The fee is already inside every rate on this page and on every quote. A $1,330 rate is about $935 of salary and benefits at cost plus the $395 fee. You will never see the fee added to a rate you were quoted.
-
What is included in the monthly rate?
Legal employment and compliance with an HR team on the ground, recruitment, an i5 computer with dual monitors and headset, a 24/7 IT help desk, a secure managed network, our security certifications and insurance, training and quality, client success management and the Knit workforce platform. For office-based staff it also covers the seat, office network and utilities.
-
How quickly can Sourcefit build a software development team?
Most software development roles are recruited, interviewed and onboarded in two to four weeks. Senior and specialist stacks can take longer. You interview and choose the developers.
-
Who manages the team day to day?
That is your choice. Most clients manage the team directly: the developers report to your managers and work inside your processes and tools, with Sourcefit handling employment, HR, equipment, IT and quality support behind them. If you would rather not manage day to day, our Sightline model builds an autonomous team with its own Sourcefit team lead and quality layer that delivers against agreed SLAs, while still reporting directly to you and working to your KPIs, not ours. Sightline is quoted separately.
-
Can the team work inside our existing systems?
Yes. Developers work in your repositories, CI/CD pipeline, issue tracker and cloud accounts, such as GitHub, GitLab, Jira, Azure DevOps, AWS, Azure or Google Cloud, under your access rules. You keep ownership of every account, and access is revoked the day someone leaves.
-
Is software development outsourcing secure?
Sourcefit holds ISO 27001:2022 and ISO 27701 certification directly, is PCI DSS validated, has a SOC 2 report, signs HIPAA business associate agreements where needed and operates GDPR-aligned data handling. Home-based staff work on company-managed computers over a VPN with traffic routed through Cloudflare.
-
What happens if we want to bring the team in house?
The team is yours. If you decide to move them to your own entity or take them with you, they go with you. There is no transfer fee, buyout or conversion charge.
-
What drives the cost of an offshore developer?
Seniority and the stack. Entry, mid and senior rates reflect the salary a developer with that experience earns in the Philippines, passed through at cost. Scarce skills such as cloud architecture, DevOps, mobile and data engineering sit at the top of the senior band or above it, and we quote those individually. The management fee is the same for every developer, so the difference between a $1,330 and a $3,840 rate is entirely in the salary line.
-
Dedicated developer, agency, freelancer or in-house: which model fits?
A dedicated developer is a named engineer who works only on your codebase, in your sprints, managed by your lead, with Sourcefit handling employment, equipment and replacement. An agency owns the outcome and charges for the project management layer. With a freelancer there is no backup if they leave or go quiet, and you become the project manager. In-house is right when you can hire fast enough locally. For an ongoing roadmap, a dedicated developer is usually the lowest cost per productive hour.
-
Can I hire just one developer?
Yes. One embedded developer is a normal start, and most teams add complementary roles later: a second developer, a QA engineer, a DevOps engineer. There is no minimum team size and no long lock-in.
-
What development work should and should not be outsourced?
Feature work, well-bounded modules, maintenance, integrations, legacy modernization and test automation all work well with a dedicated developer. Greenfield architecture without a technical owner on your side does not; the rework rate is high. The model works when someone in your company sets technical direction and acceptance criteria. If you do not have that person, we will say so before you hire.
-
How do you assess a developer’s skills and seniority?
A technical screen on your stack, a review of production work rather than certificates, and a communication assessment, because a developer who cannot explain a decision or raise a blocker in writing will cost you more than one who can. You interview the shortlist and can set your own coding test or paid trial task.
-
Who owns the code and IP?
You do, from the moment it is written. The developer works in your repositories under your accounts, IP assignment is in the employment and client terms, and nothing is held in a Sourcefit system. If the engagement ends, there is nothing to hand over because it was always yours.
-
How do you secure access to our repositories and environments?
Developers get least-privilege access to your repos and cloud accounts under their own named logins, which you can revoke in a minute. They work on company-managed computers over a VPN, with Sourcefit’s ISO 27001:2022 and ISO 27701 controls behind them. No credentials are shared, and no code is stored outside your systems.
-
How does the time zone work for a US team?
The Philippines is 12 to 16 hours ahead of the US, which gives you two options: a shifted schedule that overlaps three to four hours with your day for standups and decisions, or an overnight model where the developer picks up tickets at the end of your day and you review pull requests in the morning. For Australia and the UK the overlap is natural. Most clients use the overlap hours for decisions and keep status in the tools.
-
How do AI coding tools change what I should expect from an offshore developer?
The cheap part of development, turning a clear spec into code, has been commoditized by Copilot, Cursor and agents, so the value of a developer is now in judgment: reviewing AI output, understanding the product, and knowing when the fast answer is wrong. Ask candidates how they use and verify AI tools. We recruit for that and our teams use them openly, which is one reason a mid-level developer today ships more than a senior did three years ago.
-
Philippines, India, Eastern Europe or Latin America: which is best for developers?
The Philippines offers strong English and US cultural alignment at lower rates than Eastern Europe or Latin America, with the time gap managed by shift scheduling. India has the largest pool and lower rates, and quality varies more widely between providers, so vetting matters more. Eastern Europe has deep engineering skill at two to three times the cost and little US overlap. Latin America gives full US overlap at a premium. We also staff from South Africa and the Dominican Republic, so the time zone question can be solved without changing provider.
-
What happens if the developer leaves?
Replacement recruitment is included at no cost, and because the code, documentation and tickets live in your systems, the knowledge stays with you. Retention is part of what the fee pays for: upskilling, community programs and the practices behind our Great Place to Work certification.
